One Time Pottery Wheel Throwing

A one-time wheel throwing class to try the art of clay. No experience needed.

60 US dollars
Clayton

Service Description

For ages 10-110. You do not need to have any experience with clay prior to this class. This class is a great way to get a little taste of what it is like to work with clay. After an introduction to clay, you will be guided on creating your own functional stoneware. You will throw two pieces in this 1.5 hour class: a cup and a bowl. Your clay will already be centered and ready to throw. Centering your clay is the hardest part of throwing on a wheel. Pricing: $60 for one person. At this time, I can only accommodate one person per class. This price includes the class, bisque firing, and glaze firing for one of the two pieces that you will make. As wheel throwing is a challenging (yet rewarding and fun) experience, some people end the class with one good piece and one flop. If you would like to keep your second piece, it will be an additional $20 that you will pay on the day of your class. This will cover the cost of the firing and glaze. After the class, your piece(s) will be bisque fired, glazed with a color of your choice, and glaze fired. The finished item(s) can be picked up approximately 2 weeks after your class. Tips Before Booking: - Clay does wash out of clothes, but I suggest wearing something comfortable without any loose flaps. - Cut your fingernails before coming. Long nails make it hard to work with clay, especially on the wheel. - If you have long hair, you may want to tie it up. - While you can throw clay with watches, bracelets, and rings, it does make it a little tricky. So if you are able to, please take off any wrist jewelry.
