Service Description

For ages 15-115. You do not need to have any experience with clay prior to this class. **Please note that this class is a 5-week class, meaning that you will come once a week for 5 weeks. This class is a perfect way for you to dig a little deeper into the realm of clay. You will come once a week for five weeks and learn how to center your clay, throw a cylinder, make a mug, throw and trim a bowl, add carvings, and much more! The class will allow you to learn techniques that you can use to create unique items such as mugs, bowls, colanders, vases, and more! Week 1: You will start with some pre-centered Clay, and you will learn to throw a cylinder and a bow. Week 2: You will learn to center your own Clay, then you will have time to throw and create some pieces. Week 3: You will learn how to make flat items (plates, spoon rests, etc.), as well as fluted items (vases, pitchers, etc.). You will have time to throw. Week 4: You will learn how to trim and carve your pieces. Week 5: You will glaze your pieces. Pricing: $200 for one person. At this time, I can only accommodate one person per class. This price includes the 5 times of meeting for class. At the end of the fourth week, you will choose which pieces you would like to keep and fire. Each piece you decide to keep will be an additional $15, and you will get to glaze them yourself on the final week of class. This additional cost per piece covers the cost of the glaze and firing. The finished item(s) can be picked up approximately 2 weeks after your class. Tips Before Booking: - Clay does wash out of clothes, but I suggest wearing something comfortable without any loose flaps. - Cut your fingernails before coming. Long nails make it hard to work with clay, especially on the wheel. - If you have long hair, you may want to tie it up. - While you can throw clay with watches, bracelets, and rings, it does make it a little tricky. So if you are able to, please take off any wrist jewelry. - As this class is meant to be a 5-week course, please make sure you can attend all five weeks before signing up.
